3. Prohibited Activities
You expressly agree NOT to use the Service for:
- Unauthorized reconnaissance - Gathering information about domains, servers, or infrastructure you do not own or have explicit permission to test
- Hacking or penetration testing - Using DNS information to plan, prepare, or execute unauthorized access to systems
- Malicious activities - Including but not limited to phishing, social engineering, DDoS attacks, or any form of cyber attack
- Competitive intelligence gathering - Collecting information about competitors' infrastructure without authorization
- Stalking or harassment - Using the Service to locate or gather information about individuals
- Violation of privacy - Using revealed information to invade personal or organizational privacy
- Automated scraping - Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to query the Service excessively
- Reselling or redistribution - Commercially redistributing data obtained from the Service
4. Domain Ownership & Authorization
By querying a domain through ResolveDNS, you represent and warrant that:
- You are the registered owner of the domain, OR
- You have explicit written authorization from the domain owner to perform DNS lookups, OR
- You are querying publicly available information for legitimate educational or troubleshooting purposes that do not involve further unauthorized actions
Warning: While DNS information is technically public, using it as part of unauthorized access or attack planning is illegal. You are fully responsible for how you use any information obtained.
5. Sensitive Information Disclosure
You acknowledge that DNS lookups may reveal sensitive information including but not limited to:
- IP addresses of servers and infrastructure
- Mail server configurations and providers
- Third-party service integrations (via TXT records)
- Geographic location of servers
- Hosting providers and CDN services
- Security configurations (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
You agree not to misuse this information for any purpose that could harm the domain owner, their users, or their infrastructure.
6. User Responsibility & Liability
You are solely responsible for:
- Ensuring your use complies with all applicable local, national, and international laws
- Obtaining necessary permissions before querying domains you do not own
- Any consequences arising from your use of the Service or information obtained
- Any legal fees, damages, or penalties resulting from your misuse
We reserve the right to report suspected illegal activity to appropriate law enforcement authorities and to cooperate fully with any investigation.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Accuracy or completeness of DNS information
- Availability or uptime of the Service
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement of third-party rights
DNS results are provided by third-party resolvers and may vary. We do not guarantee the accuracy of IP geolocation data or any other supplementary information.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RESOLVEDNS AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
- Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the Service
- Damages resulting from any unauthorized access to or use of our servers
- Any actions taken by third parties based on information you obtained through the Service
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ResolveDNS, its operators, affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:
- Your use or misuse of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another party
- Your violation of any applicable laws or regulations
10. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through appropriate legal channels in the jurisdiction where the Service operators are located.
